Intro to Screenprinting 5/17
In this workshop we’ll be building our own silk screens, learning how to use screen filler as a resist, and pulling our own prints! You’ll learn about traditional screen printing techniques and then we will do a simple DIY method so we can jump right in. By the end of class you’ll have an awesome screen printed tote bag with your design, printed by your own two hands. Not only that, but you’ll be able to take your new skills (and screen!) home with you to start printing on paper, shirts, cards, and more!
Instructor bio:
For the past two decades, Katie has channeled her creativity into printmaking, embracing a diverse array of printing techniques. In 2013 she established Woodward Paper Co. and started sharing her love for Letterpress through wedding invitations, personal stationary and fine art prints. In 2015 she acquired her own Golding printing press and began building a letterpress studio at her home in Windsor, CT. Over the years the studio has evolved into a full print workshop where she bounces between letterpress machines, screen printing presses, and carving stations, opening her space to fellow artists and creatives to converge and exchange ideas, techniques, and inspiration. Katie is constantly printmaking as the lead designer and screen printer for GENTLE BULL SHOP in Hartford, CT.
This workshop is for adults 18+. All materials are included.
