The materials we will be using for this class - including the soft linoleum block and the carving tools - are very beginner friendly and accessible, they can be found at most craft stores. Facilitated by Alexis Crowley.

Gelli Plate Portrait Monoprint Workshop
In this workshop the instructor will guide you in the process of doing portraiture using a picture of your choice that you bring to class (preferably printed, but on a tablet is fine if you’re confident in your drawing skills). The technique you will be using - Monoprinting on Gelli Plates - is more similar to drawing and painting than other forms of printmaking. This workshop is great for people wanting to explore a more painterly form of printmaking, and for people that want to explore portraiture/ figural subject matter. Also a great option for people who want to take an art class but feel they ‘don’t know where to start’ when it comes to making a drawing. The instructor will cover basics of mark making and some basics on the anatomy of the face, as well as material usage and printing technique. Facilitated by Alexis Crowley.
